In this feature we examine some of the different yet effective ways of
playing bombsites on the most popular maps via the styles of some of the
world's best players. Each of these players has their own method of
playing the site and often tailors their style to their strengths as
well as builds strengths thanks to their choice of positioning. Let's
look at how the pros do it at ramp room on de_nuke.
Antonio
"cyx" Daniloski (mousesports)
Joining Mousesports along
with gob b cyx was one of the players to finally help Mouz win major
titles, something they did in 2008 as they won IEM II Finals and IEM III
Dubai. This was a big deal for a mousesports team which had been
sorely lacking titles and had always had to settle for top 3 or top 5
placings. cyx soon grew to be not just a fan favorite but one of the
best German players on an individual basis also. Well known for his
impressive ability with the AK/colt and the AWP cyx's versatility allows
mousesports to use him in many ways which have the potential of making
them successful.
When cyx is moving into position in
the ramp room he has a curious habit of running directly across the
metal ramp area, meaning he drops down to the ramp leading into lower
for a few seconds as he moves across to the first boxes. Many other
players will run to the more flat area of the ramp to take up their
position. cyx likes to get onto the boxes which famously used to be a
flash bug area. From here he looks directly for players entering the
radio room. cyx will do this with both a colt and an AWP. His typical
approach is if any enemies show in that area or push up then he will
hold at that spot, only falling back down the ramp if they are about to
overrun ramp.
When nothing has been seen at the radio room and he
has heard attacks inside or at outer then cyx will move up the ramp
room in three steps. Firstly he'll push looking to his right for
someone hiding in the radio room. Secondly he'll take the angle looking
out of the radio room into the hut and thirdly he'll push towards the
hut after checking for an immediate threat from behind the squeaky door
or entering into lobby. It's rare for cyx to pull back to the CT
entrance to ramp room and hold from there, regardless of what the enemy
do.
On eco rounds cyx will vary what he does almost every time.
Sometimes he'll push with a deagle to see if he can kill an enemy up
close at the radio room. Sometimes he'll rush down the ramp and pop the
left vent and creep up, hoping to catch an enemy from behind who has
entered from mini to upper. If the enemy have overrun upper then he
will sometimes also go down the ramp and round to the metal stairs,
hoping to catch an enemy who has pushed around below ladder from behind.
Another spot cyx will hold the ramp
from with a colt is pushed up against the flash boxes so they cover the
right of his body and his crosshair is watching the gap between that
box and the wall of the choke point. This kind of position works for a
player with fast reflexes who has confidence in his ability to spray at
close range. Players who are slower will find the enemy can run past
the gap they have chosen with their angle and thus either get behind
them or spray them through the box without repercussions. As always
it's key to know your own skillset so you can decide if a spot is right
for you and against which types of teams and players.
When cyx
AWPs he will typically swap with a player so he can cover outside from
the garage or near CT spawn boxes. Sometimes he will play the ramp room
though. Interestingly he will still hold closer angles as opposed to
playing at the back of the ramp room from the boxes an AWPer can stand
on to look directly across the choke and radio room along a diagonal
line. |
